Yeah. So I’ve been working on this site for about two days now, and while I’m amazed at the number of options, I am also flabbergasted by the difficulty I’ve been having in setting things up.
Don’t get me wrong. It’s a process. I just need to learn the ropes. However, to put this into a sports metaphor, learning the ropes of boxing is a lot more painful than learning how to, oh say…. Rappelling. In boxing, you’re going to get the pulp beat out of you, but if a rope breaks, you’re probably just going to fall on your ass and look like a twit.
In rappelling, if a rope breaks… Well let’s say there’s a double entendre in the phrase terminal velocity…
Working with WordPress is more like boxing. I’m probably not going to fall to my death if I make a horrifying mistake. On the other hand, I could wind up with two black eyes, a busted lip, four missing teeth, a broken nose, a collapsed cheekbone, a broken jaw, two burst eardrums, nine broken ribs, ten broken knuckles and a severely bruised ego.
Still, if I learn something, maybe it will be worth it.
Of course, the lesson learned might be something along the lines of the advice given to the man who goes to his doctor and complains, “it hurts when I do this…”
The doctor’s advice? “Then don’t do ‘this.'”
